If you’ve never been to Lewes, it is a rather small beach side community. Walking from one end to the other can be done in a half hour at an easy pace. Below is a listing of accommodations which are all within the town limits, an easy walk (between 1 and 5 minutes) to downtown Lewes and the public beach, as well as a short drive to the reception site. All are clean and safe with the level of luxury increasing with the price. There are also several bed n’ breakfast in the area, a few of which are listed at the end of this page. If you have children, note that not all of the places listed allow for children so please read the descriptions before booking a room. If you are staying with children, we recommend the Beacon Motel (1) or the Inn at Canal Square (3). If you are looking to stay away from children, we recommend the Hotel Blue (2) or Zwaanendael Inn (5).

We have blocked rooms at the Beacon Motel, Hotel Blue and The Inn at Canal Square. Please ask for the Wyse-Hurto (yeah, we think that's funny, too) rate and room block. The Beacon will be holding the block until 15 April, Hotel Blue will be holding the block until 20 January and The Inn will be holding their block until 2 March. Accommodations in Lewes are limited so please plan make your reservations as soon as you are sure you are coming to guarantee you get the location and room type you desire.

Inns, Hotels and Motels

Beacon Motel (See #1 on the map)

The Beacon Motel is a favorite of fishermen and beachgoers alike. Inside, the rooms are spartan but clean. The staff here is very nice as are the guests which tend to include familes with children. There is a convienience store and several delis within a few hundred feet of the motel. The motel is under a half mile to the beach and a third of a mile from downtown.

Hotel Blue (See #2 on the map)

The Hotel Blue is the newest and most modern hotel in Lewes. Located just off of the canal, this small boutique hotel offers fireplaces and flat panel TVs in every room. The roof-top features a small pool, fireplace and view of the Delaware Bay. This hotel caters to adults only (children under 18 are not allowed).

The Inn at Canal Square (See #3 on the map)

The Inn at Canal Square offers its guests lavish comfort coupled with seaside charm. All rooms are generously sized and most feature a balcony overlooking the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal. The Inn is one block from the main commercial street in Lewes and little over a half mile to the beach. There are many bars, restaurants, cafes and coffee shops within a two block walk. Children of all ages are welcome. Roll aways, pack-n-plays and babysitters are available.

Vesuvio Motel (See #4 on the map)

The Vesuvio Motel is also a favourite of fishermen. Located across from the canal and at the east end of downtown this motel is very basic and is nothing more than a cheap place to lay your head.

The Zwaanendael Inn (See #5 on the map)

The Zwaanendael Inn is an historic hotel located on the main commercial street in Lewes. Built in 1926, each room or suite is decorated in period furnishings. There are many bars, restaurants, cafes and coffee shops within a two block walk. Note that as this is an historic hotel, the rooms are smaller than modern rooms and cannot accommodate cots, roll-aways, etc. They also have a strict policy permitting only two persons per room. However, if the suites are booked, a child under two years old may stay in the same room as their parents.

Bed n’ Breakfast

Blue Water House (See #6 on the map)

Located half-way between the canal and the bay on Market Street, Blue Water House is less than a quarter mile to the beach and a third of a mile to downtown Lewes. This B&B features large, colorful rooms with access to the wrap-around porch. Blue Water House is family friendly providing bikes, beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, boogie boards, movies and use of their BBQ grill at no extra charge.

The John Penrose Virden House (See #7 on the map)

A true B&B decorated in antiques, the Virden House is located on Second Street in the heart of downtown Lewes. There are many bars, restaurants, cafes and coffee shops within a two block walk. Like Hotel Blue, the Virden House caters to adults and does not allow children.
